Identity Of Alabama Man Fraudulently Used To Obtain Loans

An Alabama man filed a complaint with local law enforcement officers last week, indicating that someone had fraudulently used his identity in order to obtain bank loans.

The victim, a forty-three year old resident of Sheffield, Alabama told deputies that he had filed similar complaints in 2012 when an ex-girlfriend was suspected of obtaining loans in his name.

At that time it was determined that the total amounts borrowed fell under the classification of a misdemeanor crime, therefore the victim would have had to pursue charges without further assistance.

The victim indicated that in past days he had received calls from a Collection Agency, informing him that his loan was in arrears.

He told deputies that he had never applied for the loan. He then discovered that someone had used his identity to obtain loans, totaling $5,000, from at least two more financial institutions.

Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division are currently continuing to investigate the crime.
